Every Saturday at 8 AM, parents and kids train together on the same mat. It's our most popular class — and the one families say changed their relationship.
The Class Nobody Expected to Love
When we launched Parents & Kids BJJ on Saturday mornings, we expected a handful of families. Instead, it became one of our highest-attendance classes. Turns out, parents and kids training together — actually drilling technique, not watching from the sideline — creates something no other activity can replicate.
How It Works
The format is simple: parents pair with their children (or another parent-child pair if sizes are mismatched) and work through the same technique together. The coach demonstrates, then the whole room drills. Kids teach their parents. Parents learn alongside their kids. Everyone laughs. Everyone sweats. Everyone improves.
Why It Matters More Than You Think
Most parent-child activities are either the parent watching (soccer, gymnastics) or the parent driving (everything). Parents & Kids BJJ is genuine shared experience. You're both beginners. You're both struggling with the same grip. You're both celebrating when the sweep finally works. That shared vulnerability builds a kind of connection that simply doesn't happen at a travel soccer tournament.
No Experience Required — For Either of You
Most parents who attend have never done BJJ. That's the point. You and your child start at zero together. The coach scales everything to your pair. By the end of the first session, you'll have learned two or three techniques you can practice at home (and your kid will definitely try them on you).
